Lying in the lee of Arran, and benefiting from the Gulf Stream's mild climate, the Isle of Bute is ideally suited to rearing premium grass-fed livestock. Fertile soils support traditional farming methods upon which high quality beef and lamb production depend, whilst at the same time maintaining an outstanding landscape, which is only now being discovered by a flourishing tourism initiative.

At the southern-most point of the island, surrounded by a magnificent seascape on three sides, is The Plan Farm where Brian and Janet Hill‚ with their sons Edward and George, rear Scottish Blackface sheep and suckler cows.

has been created in response to the demand for beef and lamb with complete traceability from livestock reared to the highest welfare and environmental standards.
All our livestock are born and reared on the island to high standards specified under the Highlands and Islands Health Programme and by Quality Meat Scotland.

Traditional preparation techniques coupled with modern hygiene standards result in fine meats which are tender, lean, juicy and full of flavour‚ something which our grandparents took for granted but for so long have been lost to today's generation. Above all, our customers want to know from precisely where their food comes, that it is free from all additives and residues and that it is the safest possible meal for them and their family. For the professional chef or family hostess, Taste of Bute meats provide something unique for the menu. You will enjoy an eating experience which reflects the sea breezes and herb-rich grazing only possible from livestock reared on this island off the West Coast of Scotland.
